Base fee:
  • Available until April 24, 2013, after which non-member registration will cost $190.
  • Registrant will only attend sessions on Friday, May 24, 2013.
  • Registrant will only attend sessions on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
  • Registrant will only attend sessions on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
  • Registrant must be a student.

Annual Meeting Hotel Filled; Alternate Hotel Added!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the conference and the NCAA Track & Field Championship event in Austin the same week, the conference hotel is completely sold out of rooms available at the conference rate. The Wyndham Garden Austin, located about 3 miles away along IH-35, is available as an overflow hotel at a rate of $105/night.

To make a reservation, Call 1-800-WYNDHAM or 1-800-996-3426: Give the associate your desired dates of stay and ask for the “Society of SW Archivists room block.” Or Book Online: Go to www.wyndhamaustin.com. Select the “Reservations” button. Enter your desired dates of stay. Then, click “Special Rates & Codes” and enter “05196702SO”. This special rate will be available until May 8.
 
The SSA LAC is working on details in regards to transportation between the conference hotel and the overflow hotel.

If you would like to bring a guest with you to the opening reception on Wednesday or business breakfast meeting on Saturday, please contact Laurel Rozema at lrozema@austin.utexas.edu. Guest tickets for each event cost $20 each.


Refund Policy
Full refunds for annual meeting and workshop registrations are available no less than 10 business days prior to the first day of the annual meeting. Refunds requested after that date (May 8) will incur a $25 penalty.
 

Sessions, Workshops, & Events

The meeting theme, Come One, Come All: Archives and the Public in the 21st Century, encouraged the submission of excellent proposals on social media and outreach, digital archives, and innovative solutions to organizing collections, among other topics. The program will include panels, roundtables, a lightning session, as well as a student poster session. Information on the workshops can be found in the Preliminary Program or on the Education page.

Day trips cancelled.
We did not meet the minimum for either the Segway Tour or Brew Tour, so both have been cancelled. If you registered, you will be refunded for those events.


Bill Brands

Key Note Speaker

H.W. Brands, author of books on American history and politics, including Traitor to His Class, Andrew Jackson, The Age of Gold, The First American, and TR. Traitor to His Class and The First American were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize, and several of his books have been bestsellers. A professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin, he lectures frequently on historical and current events and can be seen and heard on national and international television and radio programs.
