Keynote Address
Join us for the keynote address by writer and activist John Nichols on Thursday, April 29 at 8:30. Much of Nichol's work, both fiction and non-fiction, is set in northern New Mexico. He has written about the struggles of local communities to preserve their land and water rights, human rights and the environmental integrity of the region. His books include The Milagro Beanfield War, The Magic Journey and The Nirvana Blues.
The opening reception on Wednesday evening, April 28, is a short stroll away from the Loretto Inn. If you have special transportation needs, please contact Faith Yoman by April 15th (see contact information below).
Museum Hill
For Friday afternoon Museum Hill tours and the evening reception (5:30 p.m.), free shuttle vans will be available from 2:45 to 7:45 p.m. for transportation between Loretto Inn and Museum Hill. Vans will depart from the main front entrance of the Inn at Loretto every ten minutes or so, from 2:45 to 6:00, and then will return to the Inn after the reception ends (~7:00 p.m.) Conference attendees are asked to show their conference badges to shuttle van drivers upon boarding the van. Note: if you wish to drive your own car to Museum Hill, there is ample free parking in the Museum parking lots.
Conference attendees who have transportation questions or special needs should send an e-mail message by April 15th, 2010, to Faith Yoman, Southwest Librarian, New Mexico State Library, Faith.Yoman@state.nm.us.
