Receptions:

Thursday, May 26:  Old State Capitol, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.  The Old Louisiana State Capitol is one of the most distinguished examples of Gothic architecture in the United States.  Completed in 1849 and burned during the Civil War, today it houses exhibits and the Center for Political and Governmental History. Visit their website at http://www.sec.state.la.us/museums/osc/osc/osc-index.htm.

Friday, May 27:  Rural Life Museum, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. Largely forgotten by the 20th century, the lifestyles and cultures of these preindustrial Louisianians are recalled at the LSU Rural Life Museum. Through its extensive collection of tools, utensils, furniture, and farming equipment, the museum preserves and interprets an important part of the state's and nation's rural heritage. The museum also serves as a research facility for LSU students engaged in heritage conservation studies.  Visit the Museum's website at http://rurallife.lsu.edu/
